THE GLOBAL ALMANAC
The summer/fall edition of Saint Paul Almanac—The Magazine invites you
to read and linger over highlights from past print editions. This summer/fall online edition presents stories in a new way and in an unexpected space.
It includes the colorful Impressions project, where poetry paired with art was spotlighted in public buses and light rail trains. This new online edition also includes pieces from sidewalk poetry contests. It includes work from several
of our community editors as well. Some of these stories and poems stuck with us over the years long after we discussed them, some are favorites, and some are too beautiful not to repeat. These are the stories and poems that shaped the Almanac. These were the steppingstones of writing careers. These stories and poems celebrate the multi-cultural richness of Saint Paul, the challenges and the resistance, and the resilient ways in which we coped. From the difficulties of immigrating from a homeland to the hurts caused by inequity, from the sanctuary of family to finding inner resources, from playing small to having agency, these works made us think, tugged on our hearts, and made us want to be better neighbors. Like the first print edition of the Almanac in 2007 and editions printed since then, the works published in this summer/fall online edition were selected based on a community-editor process that is unique to Saint Paul Almanac. These memorable pieces appear again to represent what is possible when we have a voice and when we listen to
each other.

THE SKIN I'M IN
Explore identity and the ways writers and poets cherish their backgrounds and heritages, their families and traditions, and their contributions and gifts to their communities and to others who are both similar and different. In connecting, we can find strength, hope, and faith in the world.
