ON A COLLECTED PATH | THE MAGAZINE Copy

In creating a distinct community, individuals connect to each other in various ways, for similar reasons, and for a shared goal. Community connotes collaboration and harmony. In an often uncooperative and discordant society, building community becomes increasingly necessary. The Saint Paul Almanac aims to build community. We’re on a collected path, endeavoring to make a positive impact in Saint Paul by sharing stories that edify, uplift, and delight readers. Whether they’re told through an anecdote, a poem, or a painting, such stories move readers through a passage of receptivity to and understanding of others. Our community editors "make this happen" through their intensive process of reviewing 443 works and choosing 122 worthy of our readers’ attention. The inclusion of artistic work and photography illuminated and showcased the many illustrative visions of our community.

Deborah Cooper retired
from thirty years of corporate communications and public relations. Now a freelance marketing manager, she has served as a board member and secretary for the nonprofit Rondo Avenue, Inc. She was a Community Editor for On A Collected Path.

Damien Mills is a young Trans writer of color. They say, “Being a part of the Saint Paul Almanac

Mohamed Mohamed was
a student at Higher Ground Academy. He became interested

Sagirah Shahid is a Black Muslim poet from Minneapolis. She is the recipient of several awards and fellowships. Her poems and prose are published in Mizna, Winter Tangerine, Puerto Del Sol, Rain Taxi, Juked, Prose Online, Parhelion, About Place Journal, and more. She was a Community Editor for On A Collected Path.

Clarence White is a Givens Foundation for African American Literature Retreat fellow. He is an author of The Clarence White Blog. He was the calendar editor for Saint Paul Almanac. Clarence was also a Community Editor for 365 Ways To Say I Love It Here, A Ten-Year Retrospective, and On A Collected Path.

Sid Carlson White is an alumnus of Mounds Park Academy. Despite constant pressure from 99.9 percent of the people around him, he continues to maintain his belief that Saint Paul is better than Minneapolis and that baseball is the greatest game ever invented.
